#2 Staying true to my nature

When I set up this blog site, almost 10 years ago, I said: One final comment - I am well known for starting things and not continuing. I hope that will not be true in terms of this blog. But, who knows?

Well, it was true. It stayed unfinished for over 9 years - well, actually 8 years+. I wrote a couple of pieces after the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka last year (2019), but didn't feel they were publishable enough!

So, I am set for another new start today, in 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Let's see how well I do at keeping it going!

#1. Starting a blog - me???

So, why should I want to write a blog? Because I have some wise sayings to share? Nah! Because people are clamouring to hear what I have to say? Nope! Because I like writing? Well, somewhat!

One of my main reasons for writing is to express the mess that is in my mind and to clarify my thinking. If you are reading my blog, I hope you don't get confused - because it is the story of my life. I used to have a little placard on my desk when I was a medical student, which read 'A Neat Desk is the Sign of a Sick Mind'. That will tell you what my desk looked like, and THAT will tell you what my life is like, too.

My wife, Sumathy, has been my chief motivator, always pushing me to write. I have been too lazy to put anything down. But, God has given me occasional good ideas, and that has been what she has pushed me to put down in the form of some sort of writing. The blog seems to be a great way to do that, because I can do it in small bites, and do it on my own time.

So, that is why this blog has come to be.

A note about the title. I do think I am a boring (now, old, as well) man, and it seemed good to take insurance against those who might want to comment that all this is 'Bo-ring!'. I don't claim to have anything significant to say, unless there is divine inspiration. So, don't blame me if you don't like the stuff I'm writing!

I thought I would make the background a little different, because that might be the most exciting stuff on the page!

I think that explains everything.

One final comment - I am well known for starting things and not continuing. I hope that will not be true in terms of this blog. But, who knows?
